THE BURNOUT LEVEL OF THE UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR - A FIELD STUDY IN THE CITY OF CONSTANTINE

Abstract

The current study aims at identifying the level of burnout suffered by the university professor, as well as determining its significance of the differences with each of the variables of gender and professional experience. Furthermore, the study was applied to a sample of 34 professors, using the MBI Maslach Burnout Inventory. After analyzing the data, the results of the study concluded that there is a moderate level of burnout according to Maslach's standards for the burnout of the university professor, on the dimensions of emotional exhaustion and emotional blunting, and low on personal achievement. The results also indicated that there were significant differences in the level of psychological burnout on the dimension of emotional blunting and personal achievement in favor of females, and there were no statistically significant differences in the level of burnout according to the variable of professional experience.
