Abstract

Migraine is a highly prevalent neurological disease associated with considerable personal, social, and economic burden. The disease represents a major contributor to disability and reduced quality of life. Over the years migraine pharmacotherapy has evolved from non-specific vasoconstrictive agents such as ergot alkaloids to mechanism-based therapies targeting serotonin and CGRP pathways, including triptans, gepants, ditans, and monoclonal antibodies. This review analyzes modern treatment approaches on migraine and evaluates their clinical relevance.
