BURNOUT AMONG HEALTHCARE WORKERS IN THE POST-COVID-19 ERA: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF PREVALENCE, RISK FACTORS, AND TECHNOLOGICAL INTERVENTIONS

Healthcare workers continue to experience high levels of occupational burnout, a crisis fueled by the COVID‑19 pandemic and the systemic cracks it exposed. To combat this, digital interversions are increasingly being used to manage mental health and stress. This narrative review shows recent evidence on the prevalence and risk factors of burnout in healthcare workers. We also wanted to show the effectiveness of digital and digitally assisted interventions, with focusing on resilience‑oriented and mindfulness‑based approaches. Randomized trials for apps such as PsyCovidApp, Headspace, Vitalk show small to moderate benefits for distress and selected burnout dimensions but they often struggle with low user engagement and can’t bypass the bigger issues: crushing workloads and lack of institutional support. Overall, digital tools appear to be useful, but they are not system‑level strategies to mitigate burnout.
