Editorial Roles and Responsibilities

1. Manuscript Evaluation

  • Conduct an initial assessment of submissions for relevance, originality, and adherence to journal policies.
  • Ensure that manuscripts align with the journal’s Aims and Scope and meet ethical and scholarly standards.

2. Peer Review Oversight

  • Assign appropriate expert reviewers using their subject knowledge and reviewer database.
  • Oversee the double-blind peer review process, ensuring timely, unbiased, and constructive reviews.
  • Provide clear editorial decisions (Accept, Minor/Major Revision, Reject) based on reviewer feedback and personal evaluation.

3. Communication

  • Maintain professional and confidential communication with authors, reviewers, and the editorial office.
  • Request clarifications from authors and reviewers when necessary.
  • Guide authors through the revision process and ensure that reviewer comments are addressed adequately.

4. Ethical Compliance

  • Monitor compliance with ethical publishing standards, including plagiarism, authorship disputes, and conflicts of interest.
  • Report any suspected research misconduct to the editorial office for investigation.

5. Promotion of the Journal

  • Encourage the submission of high-quality manuscripts within their field of expertise.
  • Recommend special issues or emerging research topics for the journal.
  • Promote the journal within academic networks and professional communities.

Selection and Appointment

Editors are selected based on:

  • Academic qualifications (typically a Ph.D. or equivalent).
  • Proven research and publication record in relevant fields of Engineering or Medicine.
  • Prior editorial or peer review experience is preferred but not required.
